The Role
The role of 13 Combat Service Support Battalion (13 CSSB) is to provide logistics and support to the 13th Brigade (13 BDE) in order to support training and operations. The Research, Investigation Section (RIS) Manager is responsible to the Regimental Quartermaster Sergeant and the Commanding Officer for the Supply Chain governance, procurement and RIS issues relating to 13 Brigade.

Within the Logistics Management function the RIS Manager is accountable under limited direction to perform and achieve moderately complex logistics management within an integrated workforce. They are accountable to have a good understanding of stocktaking, procurement, governance and compliance to relevant legislative frameworks, government decision-making and Defence’s mission and policy requirements.

The duties of an APS 5 RIS Manager occupation in Defence includes but are not limited to the following:

  • Coordination and management duties including Census and non-programmed stocktaking activities in accordance with the Electronic Supply Chain Manual.
  • Manage procurement requests (in conjunction with 13 Brigade Headquarters) and facilitate simple procurement for dependent units.
  • Manage the production and action of all Corporate Governance reports in-line with Defence policy and Forces Command directives.
  • Perform the role of Local Site Administrator within Military Integrated Logistic Information System (MILIS) for 13 Brigade.
  • Provide advice to stakeholders within 13 Brigade on procurement, RIS and Governance aspects of the Supply Chain.
About our Team
Our team is located within Irwin Barracks, Karrakatta, Perth and operate out of 13 CSSB Main Quartermaster Store (Main Q) and Warehouse. The role of 13 Combat Service Support Battalion (13 CSSB) is to provide logistics and support to the 13th Brigade (13 BDE) in order to support training and operations. 13 CSSB’s Main Q and Warehouse staff consists of a combination of members of the Australian Army and Australian Public Service operating as one team.

The 13 CSSB Main Q and Warehouse team are responsible for the Supply Chain Management requirements that enable the support requirements to 13 CSSB and 13 BDE. The team conducts the provision, supervision and management of most Classes of Supply; provides advice on storage, handling and disposal of dangerous goods; performs Unit Resource functions including procurement and negotiating contracts; and manages compliance within Defence Corporate Governance requirements.

  • Support the 13 CSSB Main Quartermaster Store and Warehouse leadership team by monitoring and effectively reporting the progress of assigned tasking in a timely manner.
  • Have the IT abilities to be proficient in the management of data entry within the Defence IT information systems Card Management System (CMS), Military Integrated Logistics Information System (MILIS), etc.
  • Possess high standards of intellect and integrity to be able to adhere to and provide the supervision of the team in the compliance with Defence Corporate Governance requirements to include, but not confined to Security, Work Health Safety, and Finance Management.
  • Possess high standards of personal accountability and to accept responsibility for actions as an individual and of the team based on the behaviour expected of all our people aligned to Defence Values
